Application process

The RetroPlate Concrete Polishing System adheres to these fundamental stages, which are carried out by our qualified applicators to ensure that every floor is perfect.

Grind: The first step is to use industrial strength diamonds to grind the floor. Grinding eliminates defects, blemishes, and scratches while also exposing bare concrete by removing old coatings or mastic. Grinding can range from mild to severe, depending on the amount of exposed aggregate needed. Colored aggregate, recycled glass, or other ornamental material from a new floor might be spread into the surface to be revealed during the grinding process.

Colour: With a variety of colour options, you can add character and individuality to your polished concrete floors. With full colour floors, personalised logos, or one-of-a-kind patterns, you may achieve any appearance and style. Integral colour, dry shake, and topical dyes and stains are all colour possibilities for polished concrete.

Densify: The next stage is to use RetroPlate to densify the floor. RetroPlate penetrates the concrete and chemically reacts to harden and densify it by plugging pores and forming a solid surface. Densification is critical to the long-term advantages of polished concrete. There are several densifiers on the market that claim to work on polished concrete, but just one RetroPlate.

Polish: The floor is then polished with successively finer diamond grits. This polishing operation is responsible for the floor’s gloss. The finish of a floor might be flat (ground), satin (honed), polished, or highly polished. Adding colour or seeding material opens us a world of creative options.

EXTRA BENEFIT

Product Benefits

Isn’t concrete a tough material? So, why is the RetroPlate System required?Concrete is a porous material that is prone to efflorescence, spalling, and dusting in its natural form. It does not have an attractive finish and is difficult to maintain. That is why Curecrete invented the science and technique of transforming ordinary concrete into one of strength, durability, and beauty.

RetroPlate chemically and mechanically seals holes on the surface of the concrete floor. This densification process assists in the prevention of water, oil, and other pollutants from penetrating.

The RetroPlate densification technique seals off the floor’s surface and locks in concrete salts, preventing dusting. This significantly decreases maintenance costs by keeping concrete dust off of equipment, machinery, and completed produced items.

A RetroPlate floor may boost the abrasion resistance of a standard concrete floor by up to 400%. (ASTM C779). RetroPlate, as a concrete surface treatment, delivers the largest gain in strength at the top of the floor and unrivalled abrasion resistance throughout.

Independent testing has shown that RetroPlate boosts the impact resistance of a floor by up to 21%. (ASTM C805).

RetroPlate boasts the LOWEST life-cycle cost per square foot of any floor covering or coating. It saves money on both the original installation and ongoing maintenance and labour expenditures.

Rather than applying repeated coatings to the floor to conceal the inherent issues of concrete, our Certified Applicators produce polished floors that will last a lifetime. There is no need for topical sealers when grinding and polishing are used in conjunction with the specially developed RetroPlate solution.

Green RetroPlate flooring! RetroPlate is a modified sodium silicate that combines with the calcium hydroxide (free lime) in concrete’s cement component. Customers that use RetroPlate are using safe, naturally occurring elements to strengthen their concrete flooring.

Maintenance is drastically reduced and tyre markings are totally avoided by generating a smooth, dust-free surface. Many businesses throughout the world have lowered their manpower and cleaning product upkeep expenditures.

RetroPlate is both a functional answer to floor concerns and an architectural and design challenge. The RetroPlate System’s unique ability to blend the architectural, aesthetic character of design with the function and durability of the greatest densifier in the market allows for virtually limitless floor design options.

Because of their light reflection characteristics, some RetroPlate flooring have been demonstrated to save lighting expenses by 1/3 as a consequence of their glossy sheen.

DEFINING GREEN

Many people think of ways to reduce their environmental effect when they hear the phrase “green.” In other words, they want to live, breathe, and grow with as little impact on the environment as possible.

NATURAL PROCESS

Every stage of the RetroPlate process is designed to be ecologically friendly. When employed, a mixture of water and naturally occurring elements is used to reinforce the concrete. By repurposing old concrete, you are recycling, conserving energy, and reducing landfill contributions.

NATURAL PRODUCT

The RetroPlate System is a sodium silicate water-based product that works by chemically reacting with the calcium hydroxide in the cement component of concrete.

ENVIRONMENTALLY SAFE

One of the several benefits of adopting the RetroPlate System is that it is ecologically friendly. It is as follows:

  • Water-based
  • Odourless
  • Non-flammable
  • No VOCs, solvents, toxic ingredient
  • No VOCs
  • No toxic ingredients
  • No harmful vapours
  • Requires no protective clothing

If an old coating must be removed in preparation for the RetroPlate System, we propose a wet grinding technique, which eliminates the need for acid and other harsh chemicals. Every phase of the RetroPlate System is designed to be ecologically friendly.

NATURAL ANSWER

Corporations, merchants, school districts, healthcare institutions, architects, and facility managers are all seeking methods to reduce operating and environmental expenses. The RetroPlate System has little to no environmental effect, and these people are discovering that constructing green is not only excellent for the environment, but also for company and public perception. It is logical for the RetroPlate System to be considered after a project has committed to being environmentally friendly. It is natural, the technique is natural, and the maintenance process uses water and another green product, CreteClean Plus with Scar GuardTM, which is highly recommended.

The RetroPlate System is used anyAs soon as the RetroPlate application is finished, the floor will be completely abrasion resistant, dust proof, and polished. The sealing process, however, is a combination of a chemical and mechanical reaction. The mechanical process will be complete and the floor will be much easier to clean. The chemical reaction within the concrete will continue for several months. It is important to keep the floor cleaned during this curing phase, as the floor is becoming densified from within.where there is exposed concrete, or cementitious terrazzo. No. The RetroPlate System is a chemical and mechanical reaction with the concrete itself. When the application is finished, the concrete is still bare, but it has gone through a chemical and mechanical process to protect, harden, and polish the surface. The beauty of the RetroPlate System is that the concrete is protected and polished, yet there is no coating to peel, scratch, or wear.
